Gothgirls Community Rules
These rules exist to keep Gothgirls a safe, welcoming, and creative community for everyone. Breaking these rules may result in content removal, temporary suspension, or a permanent ban.
1. Be Respectful & Kind
Treat everyone with respect. Healthy discussions are welcome, but personal attacks are not.
- No insults, name-calling, or personal attacks against other users
- Disagree with ideas, not people — critique the content, not the person
- No gatekeeping — everyone is welcome regardless of how long they’ve been into goth
- Be welcoming to newcomers and BabyBats asking questions
2. No Harassment or Hate Speech
Gothgirls has zero tolerance for harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind.
- No targeting individuals with repeated unwanted messages or comments
- No hate speech based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or body type
- No doxxing or sharing anyone’s personal information without consent
- No encouraging self-harm or violence against any individual or group
- Violations will result in an immediate and permanent ban
3. No Spam or Self-Promotion
Share genuinely — don’t use the community as a billboard for your brand or store.
- No excessive self-promotion, affiliate links, or drop-shipping ads
- No repetitive posting of the same content across multiple categories
- Sharing your own work (art, music, DIY) is fine if you’re an active community member
- Accounts that exist only to promote products or services will be banned
- No bots, vote manipulation, or artificial engagement
4. NSFW Content Must Be Tagged
Mark any content that’s not safe for work. Keep things appropriate for the category.
- All NSFW content must use the NSFW flair/tag — no exceptions
- No explicit pornographic content — this is a fashion and culture community
- Lingerie and revealing outfits are allowed with proper NSFW tagging
- Gore, extreme violence, and shock content are not allowed under any circumstances
- When in doubt, tag it NSFW
5. Credit Original Creators
Always credit the original artist, photographer, or creator when sharing their work.
- If you’re sharing someone else’s art, photo, or content, credit them in the title or comments
- Do not claim other people’s work as your own
- If the creator asks you to remove their content, do so immediately
- Support original creators by linking to their profiles or stores when possible
6. Stay On Topic
Post in the right category and keep content relevant to the goth community.
- Use the appropriate category for your post (e.g., GothMakeup for makeup, GothMusic for music)
- Off-topic content may be removed by moderators
- Political posts are only allowed if directly related to goth culture or community
- Low-effort posts (single word, empty body with just a title) may be removed
7. No Underage Content
All users must be 13 or older. No sexualized content involving minors under any circumstances.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Gothgirls
- No sexualized content involving anyone under 18 — this results in a permanent ban and report to authorities
- Minors should not share personal identifying information
- Parents/guardians are responsible for monitoring underage users’ activity
8. Follow Moderator Instructions
Moderators keep this community safe. Respect their decisions and work with them.
- If a moderator asks you to edit or remove content, comply promptly
- Do not argue with moderators in public threads — use modmail for disputes
- Moderator decisions can be appealed by contacting the admin team
- Impersonating moderators or admins is a bannable offense
9. No Illegal Activity
Don’t use Gothgirls to facilitate, promote, or discuss illegal activities.
- No selling or promoting illegal substances
- No piracy or sharing copyrighted material illegally
- No solicitation of illegal services
- Content that violates local or international law will be removed and reported
10. Use Good Faith
Engage honestly and in good faith. This community thrives on genuine connection.
- No trolling, baiting, or deliberately provoking other users
- No creating alt accounts to evade bans or manipulate votes
- No spreading misinformation or deliberately misleading content
- Report rule violations instead of engaging — let moderators handle it
Enforcement
Moderators enforce these rules at their discretion. Consequences depend on severity:
- First offense (minor): Warning via comment or message
- Repeat offenses: Temporary suspension (1-30 days)
- Serious violations: Permanent ban
- Illegal content: Immediate ban and report to authorities
